B Corp Certification
In July 2020, Tiny Miracles has officially become a Certified B Corporation ®. With this certification, we are part of a growing community of businesses that meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
When Tiny Miracles started as a foundation in 2010, we were driven by making impact: breaking poverty cycles. We spent years in the slums of Mumbai analysing the root cause of poverty, eventually developing a method to help communities to get out of poverty. However, to stay out of poverty independently is something else. You need to consistently earn enough. This is why we set up Tiny Miracles Social Enterprise, to source and create jobs. And now, Tiny Miracles Social Enterprise has become a Certified B Corporation ®.
“In our assessment, Tiny Miracles has scored exceptionally high on social impact. I trust that becoming a Certified B Corporation® will help them to implement their approach on an even larger scale.”
Our work continues
To become a B Corporation you need to score 80 points. With our first B impact assessment, we scored 81,6 points. This is certainly a good start. According to the B Lab, we score very high on business-model impact: “In our assessment, Tiny Miracles has scored exceptionally high on social impact.” – Hubertine Roessingh, Executive Director B Lab Benelux. However, there is still serious work to be done in improving our operational / environmental score. This achievement inspires and guides us in improving as a Social Enterprise as a whole. If you would like to learn more about our score, please find us in the B-Directory.
We are happy to have reached this milestone, and want to multiply our impact. Our ambition is to inspire others to replicate our model in the future.
More than ever, we’re committed to use the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy with decent wages, alleviating poverty altogether. We will use this score as a starting point, because it’s certainly not the finish line.
“More than ever, we’re committed to use the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy with decent wages, alleviating poverty altogether.”
We’re on a mission
Tiny Miracles stems from a deep-rooted belief that our generation must and has the power to help achieve United Nations SDG #1: “end poverty in all its manifestations by 2030 and ensure social protection for the poor and vulnerable and increase access to basic services”. It is the mission of Tiny Miracles to help find a scalable, measurable solution for SDG #1. It is our ambition to enable one million people out of poverty by 2030 and inspire others to do the same.
